Generosity Moment: Time

By Tatyana R.

Each Sunday of our Generosity Campaign a member of Holy Trinity will offer a Generosity Moment that illustrates how they are generous with their gifts here at Holy Trinity. This week Tatyana shared with us about how she offers her time.

My Generosity Moment

Hello all. For those of you that may not know me, my name is Tatyana. I have had the pleasure to be a part of Holy Trinity Community for 10 years. One thing I strongly believe is God always has a plan no matter what. I like to open up this speech with a phrase from the bible that I strongly believe in. It goes as follows from Isaiah 60:22 when the time is right, i, the lord, will make it happen. For many of you may wonder how this simple phrase means so much to her? Well my answer to you is this. It was Christmas Eve 2013 I was only 14 years old. I had just moved into the Bellerose neighborhood not too long ago from Long Island as you can imagine I was adjusting to the new surroundings around me. However it was on that Christmas Eve night my mom and I and brother had made the decision to come into Holy Trinity not knowing that my life and faith would have changed forever. You see walking through those doors that Christmas Eve night it just felt right to me. It felt like I was at peace and this honestly felt like a place I would enjoy coming to for worship. However this night in particular something happened I will never forget. This was the start of my journey with Holy Trinity. After Christmas Eve service I was walking out from service and Ms. Ruth stopped me and shook my hand. I remember Ms. Ruth grabbing my hand and saying “would you be interested in teaching Sunday School with me?” Now you can imagine how off guard I was. Here I was at a church I had never been to or never attended. But the Lord works in mysterious ways as they say. I ended up coming back that following Sunday and took a leap of faith and decided to try it out and see if I liked it. 10 years later here I am still helping teach Sunday School so you can assume I very much do enjoy it.

Shortly after starting to teach Sunday School I was given the opportunity to help participate in service. First starting off as an usher, reader, then acolyte, and soon after that assisting minister and communion assistant. Besides being an active member in worship and

being involved in Sunday School I also have given my time in music. When Peter Klarman found out I am a violinist he asked me to perform with him during services such as Good Friday, Easter Sunday, Christmas Eve and so on. I never imagined the opportunity I would have to be able to play my instrument in a church on those special days. Fast forward a few years later I was given another opportunity to grow more in faith and be a council member and currently I serve as the secretary in council. Having the responsibility of being the secretary of this church council can be a bit daunting at times however each meeting I go to, I am reminded of how much work goes into running this church and how each and every one of us is willing to help out and put in the work whenever we can.

Holy Trinity has provided me with endless opportunities to allow me to grow in my faith and give me different opportunities to learn more about my faith. Holy Trinity has allowed me to challenge myself in ways I never was challenged before. As you can see I have put in a lot of time in being involved with Holy Trinity and donating my services whenever I can, because of this I was able to grow immensely in my faith and learn more about it each day.

I leave you with the same phrase from Isaiah 60:22 when the time is right, i, the lord, will make it happen. Don’t rush into things. Don’t over analyze how things are going to get done or how you are going to get there. What is meant for you will find you. Just breathe and know that when the time is right the lord will guide you.

Thank you,

Tatyana
